PUMPKIN FESTIVAL IN THE HEART OF THE OPOLE REGION - BANIA FEST
The Pumpkin Festival in the Heart of Opole Province - Bania Fest is a popular event that has been held in Krapkowice since 2015. In 2017, the event won an honorable mention in the Competition for the Best Tourist Product OROT Certificate for its creative combination of flavors and promotion of the region through cuisine.
The event is based on integration of participants and raising awareness of how interesting and good a ingredient pumpkin is in gastronomy, but also in the cosmetics industry. During the festival, you can taste pumpkin in various forms, admire huge pumpkins transported here by special cranes (some weigh over 600 kg!), as well as small decorative pumpkins. The event includes cooking demonstrations and various themed competitions, such as for the heaviest pumpkin, autumn sculptures, etc. The event is accompanied by a number of additional events: artistic performances, attractions for children, demonstrations, numerous stands with
regional products and tables full of autumn gifts, preserves, and decorations, workshops, etc. During each edition, an attempt is made to break the record for preparing a different dish, the main ingredient of which is pumpkin, in order to emphasize its versatility. Records have already been broken in cooking over 530 liters of soup, 360.5 kg of jam, 355 liters of risotto, 413 liters of letcho and preparing 2,500 dumplings with pumpkin filling.
The organizer of the pumpkin festival in the heart of the Opole region is Krapkowice County.
