UPRISING MUSEUM ON ST. ANNE'S MOUNTAIN

A branch of the Opole Silesia Museum, whose exhibition is devoted to the subject of the Silesian uprisings and the plebiscite in Upper Silesia. The location – St. Anne's Mountain – is by no means accidental: it was here that the bloodiest battles of the Third Silesian Uprising in 1921 took place. The museum is housed in a 19th-

century structure called "Dom Polski" (Polish House), which once served as an inn. The rich collection, comprising nearly 2,500 exhibits, consists of an exhibition on the following topics: the history of the monastery and Calvary on St. Anne's Mountain, the Polish national movement in Silesia in 1848-1918, the activities of the "Sokół" Gymnastics Society in Silesia, the First Silesian Uprising, the Second Silesian Uprising and the Plebiscite, the Third Silesian Uprising, the takeover of the Polish part of Upper Silesia in 1922, the activities of the Union of Poles in Germany and the Polish Scouting Association in Germany. A unique part of the Uprising Museum is the modern Panorama of the Silesian Uprisings, which is brought to life by a 15-minute "light and sound" show.
