SILESIAN CHAMBER AT THE PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL IN IZBICKO

The Silesian Chamber in Izbicko is located at the Public Primary School. The opening ceremony took place in May 2003 during the Science Festival. The ceremony was also attended by Countess Margrit Strachwitz, daughter of Hans Heinrich Strachwitz, the pre-war owner of Izbicko and Kamień Śląski, who currently resides in Germany. The countess donated a pen that had belonged to her father, as well as photographs and family documents.

Numerous exhibits related to the town's past have been gathered in two rooms. This includes numerous documents, photos, certificates and books, relating to the history of Izbicko and its former inhabitants. In the second room, you can see everyday objects and household appliances, including old box irons, kerosene lamps, a mangle, a washing grater, a sewing machine, kitchen accessories, embroidered tablecloths, and beautiful festive Silesian costumes.

The Chamber plays a vital role in education. Thanks to the collected exhibits, students and visitors to the chamber can find out more about the history of the village, learn about its culture and traditions, see how life in the countryside used to be, what equipment their ancestors used, and what all these old, strange contraptions were used for. This is a beautiful testimony of respect for the traditions of their ancestors. Visits to the chamber are by appointment only.
