MUSEUM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF OPOLE IN OPOLE

The idea of establishing the Museum of the University of Opole was conceived in 2012 on the initiative of the then rector, Professor Stanisław Nicieja. The museum opened two years later in the historic building of the Collegium Maius on Plac Kopernika (Copernicus Square) in Opole. The museum's permanent exhibition is used to showcase the achievements of Opole's first university and present the history of both the university's building and the University Hill. The museum space also includes St. Adalbert's Chapel, a place associated with the legend of the Prague bishop's stay on what is now University Hill in the 10th century. It houses relics of painting and religious art. The museum also features a permanent exhibition entitled "Palaeontological Treasures of the Opole Region" with numerous palaeontological specimens dating back tens of millions of years.

Temporary exhibitions are also organised here, as well as interesting meetings with people of science. The museum is open from Monday to Friday. Group visits must be booked in advance by phone.
