HOLY CROSS MUSEUM ON ST. ANNE'S MOUNTAIN

The Holy Cross Museum is a private institution created by an enthusiast of religious art, Mr Ryszard Makowiecki, entirely devoted to the theme of the Holy Cross. The museum was opened on 1 June 2020 in a historic building constructed between 1700 and 1709 by the von Gaschin family, founders of the Annogóra Calvary. The building originally housed the Pilgrim's House and the

"Gräflisches Gast Haus" Inn.

Its extensive collections are set up in 11 exhibition halls. It houses an interesting collection of artefacts related to the Holy Cross. These include representations of the Via Crucis, sculptures and paintings depicting scenes of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, images of the Arma Christi and Catholic saints with the attribute of the

Cross. The upper floor of the museum houses the "Hall of a Thousand Crosses" with crucifixes from various denominations, while the "St. Anne's Chamber" displays old memorabilia from the sanctuary, Annogóra devotional items and images of St. Anne. In the "Pilgrim's Room" one can see thematic paintings, pre-conciliar chasubles, Calvary booklets from the Annogóra printing houses and pilgrims' staffs.

The Makowiecki family plans to expand the museum with an observation deck, a bicycle rental shop and a confectionery offering Silesian pastries. For now, visitors can enjoy the best ice cream on St. Anne's Mountain.
