OPOLE RURAL MUSEUM IN OPOLE

The Opole Rural Museum is an open-air ethnographic park with an area of 10 hectares, featuring 9 homesteads from the Olesko, Opole and Kozielsk-Racibórz regions. The exhibition consists of nearly 50 historic buildings, their interiors and natural surroundings. Visitors to the Museum can see historic residential cottages, farm buildings, large manor granaries, rural industrial facilities such as a water mill, windmills and a forge, as well as public buildings like a school, a shop, and an inn. The site also has a 17th-century church, which was moved to the museum from Gręboszów near Namysłów. Around the buildings, old farming methods, home gardens and orchards are being recreated, allowing visitors to see old varieties of trees, fruit bushes, flowers and vegetables. A blacksmith and beekeeper work on site, and animals such as goats and rams live in the pens. All this creates an idyllic setting, perfect for walks and relaxation.

In addition, the museum hosts numerous educational workshops for children and young people, as well as regular events, including outdoor events, such as the Easter Fair, the Harvest Festival with Honey Fair and the Great Bee Day.

In 2018, the Opole Rural Museum received the main prize in the Competition for the Best Tourist Product – OROT Certificate 2018.
