HOLY TRINITY CHURCH IN OPOLE

It is one of the most valuable monuments in Opole. Erected in the 14th century, it hides exceptional cultural treasures. It is known primarily as the burial site of the Opole and Racibórz Piasts. The oldest part of the church – St. Anne's Chapel, known as the Piast Chapel – contains the sepulchral triptychs of the Opole Princes, and its interior is enclosed by an impressive, original polychrome stellar

vault. In the crypt beneath the chapel, one can admire Silesia's oldest surviving fresco, dated 1320, depicting the Crucifixion of Christ. Entrance to the underground crypts is possible after prior reservation at the monastery gatehouse.

Inside the temple, particular attention should be paid to the choir with a Baroque organ front made in Leipzig in the second half of the 18th century, the vault and the chapel of St. Maximilian Kolbe, where fragments of 15th-century frescoes were discovered. A monastery building adjoins the temple on the south side.
