ROZKOCHÓW PALACE

The first records of the knightly seat of Mikołaj of Rozkochów date back to 1393. It is likely that in 1734, the Pückler family rebuilt the Renaissance manor into a Baroque palace, which was subsequently purchased in 1853 by the Seherr-Thoss family from Dobra. Following Germany’s transformation into a totalitarian state, the descendants of the owners were forced to flee overseas. Only the last owner, Hans, remained with his wife; legend has it that upon sighting a Gestapo car in 1943, she threw herself from the tower of the castle in Dobra.

In the 1930s, an auxiliary military airfield, first German, then Soviet, was established in the palace park. After the war, the estate was taken over by a State Agricultural Farm (PGR) and fell into ruin until 2021.

Fortunately, it was purchased by an entrepreneur who plans to convert it into a spa hotel and restaurant. Renovation is proceeding in stages; the first one involved clearing rubble, cleaning the grounds, and reopening bricked-up windows and doors.

The palace foundation organises various cultural and artistic events. At weekends, visitors can stop by for coffee and cake. It is well worth dropping in to observe the progress.
