NYSA FORTRESS CULTURAL AND NATURAL PARK

The Nysa Fortress Cultural and Natural Park is a complex of fortifications located on a property of 230 hextares. An additional advantage is that some of the structures are part of a NATURA 2000 site. The fortress was rediscovered in the early 21st century and has become Nysa's most important tourist attraction. The complex of fortifications includes structures from various periods of their development, starting with the oldest – St. Jadwiga's Bastion, which is still of Austrian origin, and continuing through typically Prussian structures such as Fort Prussia, Fort Wodny, Rabbit Redoubt, Cardinal Redoubt and Fort II.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Nysa was one of the strongest and best fortresses in Europe, as Napoleon's forces demonstrated when they besieged Nysa for 114 days.

To this day, approximately 60% of the entire fortress still remains.

A tourist route connects two historical fortifications – St. Jadwiga's Bastion and Fort Wodny. This trail has two parts. The first one, along the Nysa Kłodzka River boulevards, allows visitors to explore the natural heritage of Nysa. The second trail, through the historical city center, presents Nysa's cultural and tourist heritage, including its most important monuments.
