CHURCH OF ST. PETER AND PAUL IN ZAKRZÓW TURAWSKI

Church of St. Peter and Paul in Zakrzów Turawski in the Turawa municipality is an interesting example of historic, wooden church architecture in the Opolskie Voivodeship. It was built in 1759, and its founder was Anna Barbara von Löwencron. The log-structure church with a rectangular nave and separate chancel has a square tower ending in an onion dome, covered with wood shingles. Around the church there are low arcades characteristic of wooden churches in Silesia, Moravia, and Lesser Poland.

The interior of the church is adorned by altars in the Classicising Baroque style. The high altar features images of patron saints, while in the side altars there are images of St. Gregory and Madonna and Child. A Gothic figure of Virgin Mary, dating from the 14th century, and a Baroque baptismal font from the 18th century are extremely valuable relics in the church. Currently the church is a filial church of the Parish of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Ligota Turawska.
