CASTLE PARK IN DĄBROWA

The beautiful castle in Dąbrowa, which is over 400 years old and now owned by the University of Opole, is surrounded by an old-growth park. The castle park covers 22 hectares and, unlike the castle itself, which is closed to the public, is accessible and open to visitors.

It is a great place for a walk among greenery, a family picnic or beautiful photo shoots.

As a result of the park's revitalization in 2017, solar lamps, insect houses and nesting boxes for birds and bats appeared on its grounds.

Between the alleys and paths, there are overgrown ponds, tree-lined avenues, large glades and shelters for walkers. Information boards placed along the paths provide information about the nature and history of this place. The park has also preserved traces of its former glory, such as overgrown steps leading nowhere and the remains of viewing terraces. The park paths also lead to the ruins of the palace chapel, which is now only remembered on an information board.

The park is stunning at any time of year. It is well worth a visit. It is only 11 km from Opole – you can get here in ten minutes from the capital of the Opole Province and in five minutes from the Opole Zachód junction on the A4 motorway.

Various regular events are also held in the park next to the castle in Dąbrowa. One of them is the “Zamczysko” sung poetry festival. The municipality of Dąbrowa also organizes “Cross-Country Runs” and “Classic Car Rally” – an event dedicated to vintage vehicles: cars and motorcycles.
