HISTORIC PARK IN POKÓJ

The park in Pokój is one of the most famous attractions of the Stobrawski Landscape Park. It is very extensive and gives the impression of being wild, mysterious and undiscovered. There is a French garden with a tea room on an island surrounded by water, an English park with many elements of romantic park architecture and a statue of a sleeping lion, which symbolizes the peace reigned in Europe after the victory over Napoleon's armies. There is a huge, over 220-year-old white pine tree with a trunk circumference of over 500 cm. The large rhododendron, to which an information board is dedicated, is also impressive. There are wild and dark breeding ponds with dense vegetation. In the vicinity, you can see the ruins of the palace on Winna Góra, the Temple of Matilda of 1827, located on an island, and the monument to Frederick the Great, which is 220 years old and has lost its head during that time. Next to it, it is worth visiting Elizjum - a very mysterious place with a rotunda and a dark tunnel, called Ciemne Ganki (Dark Porches) by the locals.
