NYSA FORTRESS TRAIL

The Nysa Fortress Trail is a new marked route that allows access to all important structures of the Nysa Fortress. The trail begins and ends at St. Jadwiga's Bastion, where you'll find the Tourist Information Center, an exhibition about the fortress and a multimedia historical trail. Other landmarks on the trail include: the Water Tower,

Fort Prusy, the High Ramparts, Fort II and the Garrison Cemetery. The trail is marked with special signposts and information boards with a trail map have been placed at St. Jadwiga's Bastion and Fort II. The trail is supplemented with additional boards informing about individual structures of the fortress, with QR codes, as well. Additionally, two large boards promoting the Nysa Fortress have been installed along the trail. Sections of bike paths and bicycle racks have been constructed for the cyclists traveling the trail. To enhance the attractiveness of the fortifications along the trail, additional elements were added, such as a historical bread oven and the furnishings of the soldier's quarters. A guidebook to the Nysa Fortress with a trail map was prepared for the visitors. In addition, publications promoting the fortress were published, that is a photo album and a comic book presenting its history. The trail attractiveness is further enhanced by the opportunity to earn a special Nysa Fortress tourist badge. The trail also has a virtual version, which can be found at www.nysa.eu. Guided walks are organized along the trail.

The trail infrastructure is constantly being expanded with features such as playgrounds, benches, gyms, CCTV and public restrooms. Another interesting, innovative project implemented on the trail is the ability to listen to information transmitted via mobile phone as a radio play after scanning the appropriate QR code. New educational elements have been installed in green areas along the trail, such as bird and bat call boxes and insect hotels.

On 20 October 2022, the Nysa Fortress Trail received the OROT Special Certificate in the Competition for the Best Tourist Product, regional stage 2022.
