NATURAL AND EDUCATIONAL TRAIL "FROM POKRZYWNA VIA OLSZAK AND 'ŻABIE OCZKO' TO JARNOŁTÓWEK"

The trail begins at the edge of the forest in the village of Pokrzywna,

on the Jarnołtówek-Pokrzywna district road, near the bus stop. Almost its entire length runs through forested areas. After leaving the road, the path runs northeast, up the northern edge of Złoty Potok, reaching the summit of Olszak (475 m above sea level) after over 1 km. The mountain top is covered with an old mixed mountain forest (natural) of oak and beech (Quercus - Fagus), with an admixture of spruce (Picea), hornbeam (Carpinus), linden (Tilia), pine (Pinus) and birch (Betula). The undergrowth includes: blackberry (Rubus), reed grass (Calamagrostis), ragwort (Senecio), chickweed (Stellaria) and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus). From Olszak, the path descends westward, reaching an abandoned quarry known as "Żabie Oczko," where stop no. 1 is located. Currently, the old quarry, where shale and sandstone were mined in the 19th century, is filled with water. The pond, covered with duckweed and covering an area of ​​approximately 600 square meters, is surrounded by 17-meter-high rock walls. Metasandstones with gravel and fragments of metashale are exposed here. The rock background consists of chlorite, sericite and quartz dust. From "Żabie Oczko," the path turns left, heading to a viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the Góra Parkowa and Głuchołazy area. The path then follows the forest edge, reaching the "Karolinka" rock outcrops. Stop no. 2 is planned here. "Karolinka" rock outcrops are composed primarily of shale, metasandstone and metamudstone with pebbles and gravel. They create magnificent overlooks and outcrops, offering stunning views of the valley and gorge of the Złoty Potok River, as well as the picturesque serpentine road between Jarnołtówek and Pokrzywna. From here, the path descends in a narrow traverse to the village of Jarnołtówek, where it ends before the bridge over the Złoty Potok River.
